Hi, I’m Kimberly — nurse, wife, mom of two, and (most days) an introvert who’s just trying to keep up with everyone else’s energy in this house.
My people
My oldest just turned 18. She’s a senior this year, juggling dual enrollment classes at the community college while working full time — and somehow still finds time for her boyfriend, a good book, and taking her sister, cousins, and friends out for 7Brew and shopping trips. She keeps me humble; I don’t know how she does it all. My youngest just turned 16 and got her driver’s permit, which is its own adventure. She’s obsessed with makeup and hair, makes TikToks with her sister and cousin, wants absolutely nothing to do with boys right now, and would rather tag along with her dad on whatever he’s doing than almost anything else. Then there’s my husband — jack of all trades, master of none, by his own admission. He’s played pool competitively, whitewater kayaked, raced asphalt track cars, rides motorcycles, and runs with his motorcycle club. He never meets a stranger; he’s got friends from every walk of life. And our pack: a new puppy who is equal parts sweet and absolute chaos (still very much in her bitey, wild phase), plus the neighbor’s dog, who has basically moved in with us. Yes, the neighbors know. No, they don’t mind. He’s old, snuggly, and not exactly thrilled about the puppy’s arrival.
What we love doing together
Summers mean camping and tubing. Any time of year means travel when we can swing it. Mostly though, it’s just being together and laughing — that’s the thread that runs through everything we do as a family.
Why I’m here
I’ve spent nearly two decades as a pediatric nurse, including years as a charge nurse. I love caring for people — that’s never been the question. But bedside nursing has worn me down in ways that have nothing to do with the patients and everything to do with being stretched thinner every year without much support to match it. I’m starting this space because I want more freedom — to build something of my own, to be present for my family, and to see where this next chapter takes me. Expect a mix here: nursing life, family stories, travel, and whatever else feels worth sharing along the way. Thanks for being here for it.
